Western Road Trip, Day 2

Today started out with a 4:00 am departure from Southaven, MS. We headed to Amarillo, TX via a short side trip through Arcadia, OK to see a couple of roadside attractions on Route 66. The first was Pops 66 Soda Ranch, which is a diner/gas station/soda shop. They boast over 700 varieties of soda.

This is the root beer cooler.

We picked up a few unique flavors, but passed on these two.

Less than a mile down the road is Arcadia’s historic Round Barn. It was originally built with the thinking that the shape would protect it from tornadoes.

Upon arriving in Amarillo, Texas. We checked into our hotel and then took a drive to the Big Texan Steak Ranch for a look around.
